Do you want your furry friend to accompany you on a holiday? You may be disheartened suddenly to come to know that your pooch is tagged as the dog breed who cannot travel in the flight with you. In recent years, many airlines have adjusted their regulations, thus opening up a gamut of opportunities where you can easily carry your pooch with you either in the cabin beneath the seat or placed in the cargo hold. Now with the new adjustments underway and airlines offering amazing options, you just cannot demand either a Kennel or Babysitter for looking after your pooch, while you and your family are jetting off on to some awesomely great vacation.

In recent years, there are a few breeds of dogs, which the airlines have put under considerable restrictions, eventually meaning that you may not fly with your lovely pooch onboard.

Airlines do not accommodate all Dog Breeds to Fly. Can You Guess Why?

If you are still in an oblivion that there are many dog breeds included in the list of the “Breed Specific Legislation,” which do not allow them to board the airline, then you are possibly on the brink of missing your pooch on an air journey. There are quite a few breeds of animals which have been out rightly banned from flying over the cities, states as well as countries. Many airlines are not interested in boarding these breeds on the first hand as they may likely to come under the scanner of legalities, resulting in slamming of penalties.

Dog Breeds Not Accustomed to Heights reached by Airplanes

Brachycephalic or the Snub nose dog breeds and Bully Breeds fall under the category of Breed Specific Legislation, and these dog breeds are not allowed by the airlines to board the flight for the health and safety concerns. Brachycephalic dog breeds struggle to breath on heights as their nasal passages are extremely short. These dog breeds may often experience breathing challenges on heights resulting in snoring apart from loud breathing. Therefore, small dog breeds like Pug, Bulldog, Pug, or Shih Tzu come in the category of Brachycephalic or Snub Nose Dogs.

The presence of brachycephalic airway syndrome restricts the ease of breathing due to the presence of petite nostrils. Similarly, with a lengthened soft palate, Snub Nose Dog breeds can experience tracheal blockage. Furthermore, the Laryngeal sacs will be highly enlarged and on great heights where air pressure is low, these dog breeds can experience gagging. Restricting the travel of brachycephalic dog breeds is for their own safety and prevents the occurrence of deaths in flights rather than being sorry altogether.

Many Bully Dog breeds on the other hand are facing restrictions under the Breed Specific Legislation for being overwhelmingly threatening to the passengers sitting in their vicinity. Airlines have tightened up the restrictions by implementing stringent regulations for dog breeds such as the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier to be in the cabin or cargo hold.

In fact, Breed Specific Legislations are in place for protecting your loving furry friend as well as airlines who were otherwise mandated by the local laws that banned them from transporting very specific dog breeds to restricted demography.

Verdict

Next time when you want to enjoy flying in the thin air in close company of your pooch, make sure that your fur pet is not coming under the Breed Specific Legislation. In this manner, you are going to bypass the last-minute hassles.
